During our travels in Europe, I made sure that Lauterbrunnen was a must-visit, no excuses see at all costs destination. Having seen countless reels and TikTok’s of its sheer beauty and wonder I ensured our Switzerland leg of Europe was centred around this little giant town. Being in Lauterbrunnen after dreaming off it for so long gave me a real sense of wonder and disbelief. The cascading waterfalls, towering peaks, and pristine air, echoed to the sounds of cow bells and birds of prey created an almost unbelievable sense of being alive. It’s a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of nature. Whether you’re hiking through lush meadows, standing in awe beneath a waterfall, or sipping coffee in a cozy chalet, Lauterbrunnen has a way of grounding you in the moment. It’s not just a destination but an experience that resonated deeply with me, and is sure to leave you with a renewed appreciation for the natural world.

Don’t miss the historic Lauterbrunnen Church, a charming whitewashed building that stands to the background of the rolling hills and high cliffs.
Lauterbrunnen is famously known as the “Valley of 72 Waterfalls,” and the waterfalls here are nothing short of mesmerizing. The most prominent is the Staubbach Falls, which plunges nearly 300 meters from a sheer cliff and is visible from almost anywhere in the village. For an up-close experience, you can take a short hike to the viewing platform to feel the misty spray and hear the roar of the water. You can also go even closer via a tunnel carved into the waterfalls belly, taking you underneath the plunging water and into the very stone itself.
Another must-visit is Trümmelbach Falls, a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls hidden within a mountain.
